The Mars Anomaly
IT WAS NASA'S WORST NIGHTMARE!
At the CapeCon Launch Complex the ground crew were monitoring the Kepler spacecraft's systems.
Most of the data was showing on the numerous LED Screens on the front wall.
At 18:21 Thursday, January 10, 2030, the mood of the ground crew changed instantly from jubilant, to perplexed, and then to concern, as almost all of the screens on the wall blinked a couple of times and went either blank or just showed static. There were audible gasps and one exclamation "What the..!" Clayton Keats, the Director of the Manned Mission to Mars Program, serving as Flight Controller, boomed, "This is Control. What has just happened people!"
The Mars probe Kepler was 35,000,000 miles from Earth, in low Mars orbit when all communications with the ship were lost. They called it the 'Mars Anomaly'.
